Aspiring Soccer Players Invited to “Train with the Pros” at the Atlantic Club this Month

Yael 3Yael Averbuch, professional soccer player for FC Kansas City and former North Carolina Tarheel, will be hosting a girls soccer clinic, right here at the Atlantic Club Fieldhouse. She will be accompanied by Rachel Breton, professional soccer player for Sky Blue FC and Rutgers women’s soccer alum and Gibby Wagner, former captain of the Boston College women’s soccer team. Register here.

Yael is a native of Montclair, NJ and like many young players in the area, has been playing soccer since she was just 7 years old. By the time she was 9, she knew she wanted to be a professional soccer player. Since that time, Yael has become a household name in the world of women’s soccer.

While in school at the University of North Carolina, Yael won two NCAA National Championships, set an NCAA record with 105 consecutive starts, and scored the fastest goal in women’s collegiate soccer history. She been playing professionally since 2009, boasting multiple league championship titles playing for teams like Sky Blue FC, Western NY Flash and FC Kansas City alongside soccer’s greatest players.

Averbuch also left her mark internationally, playing for the United States youth national teams at every level. She earned her first caps with the full national team in 2007, and in 2010 she scored her first goal against Costa Rica during a CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup qualifier.

On December 23rd, 2015, Yael will be hosting two sessions, each including an hour long clinic and a 30 minute Q&A period with time for photos and autographs. The first session, for ages 7-12, will take place from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The second session, for ages 13-17 will take place from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The event will include everything from training proper technique and technical efficiency to skills challenges. “The opportunity to meet Yael and hear her speak about how to improve each players foot skills -from a world class player and soccer educator – is a very special opportunity for soccer players at all stages of their career,” said Kevin McHugh, COO of the Atlantic Club. “Making simple adjustments to a player’s foot skills can be a difference maker that can significantly improve a player’s performance,” he added.

The cost to attend the event is $50. In addition, The Atlantic Club will be providing any athletes that attend the event a $50 discount promo code to be used towards any Parisi Academy or PEAK Program. “The Parisi Speed School at The Atlantic Club’s mission is to build an athlete’s self-confidence, speed, strength and agility by incorporating the best drills and techniques offered in the industry,” McHugh said.
“We are very confident that athletes that experience our sports specific Academies or our PEAK Performance sports specific group training will complete our programs with not only enhanced skills but a high sense of confidence in their ability to maximize their potential. That is what it is all about!” he added.

The Atlantic Club looks forward to bringing such an accomplished and empowering athlete to the area, to meet and train with young soccer players. Yael brings more than just soccer knowledge to the table. She plays abroad in countries around the world, writes a soccer blog for the New York Times and started her own successful YouTube Channel – Yfutbol.

The Atlantic Club wants to offer the opportunity to meet and train with Yael to local soccer players. The Atlantic Club is giving free spots to players from local soccer clubs – Point Pleasant Soccer Club, Wall Soccer Club, Monmouth Coast Soccer Club – as well as local recreation departments and churches. Meeting an athlete with a retired jersey at UNC and multiple professional league championships is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many hopeful soccer players. The Atlantic Club wants to be sure to offer the opportunity to those who may not have been able to attend otherwise. During this holiday season, it’s especially nice to give this opportunity to some young and aspiring athletes to train and speak with the pros.
